to be honest, i never liked the bed. for some reason i felt like he really did, so we put it up in our room. it definitely did not fit in with my beachy, shabby chic style at the time, but i figured that it was time to embrace change and try to work with it. i never really got there. the room just looked plain old weird between the whites trim and accessories, beachy light blue walls, and the color of the wooden/metal bed. it was the one room i didn't like taking pictures of or showing people and i always had it in the back of my mind that i wanted to re-do the bedroom someday. 

well, i finally did. it's really nothing super special, but we took the bed down, brought back the headboard that i made when i first bought the house, and turned the room into a very neutral, linen on linen haven. 

the new paint color {ps who the heck am i with a shade of TAN?!} and the different neutral tones just totally bring everything together and look so much more relaxing and soothing. 

the bed looks tiny {it's a queen}, but i love it. and i especially love how i was able to use some sepia toned photographs from our trip on each side of the bed. they make me so unbelievably happy. 

the room finally feels "pulled together" and really cozy...  it makes my OCD decorator brain much, much happier!

as you can see, i am way into the grey/brown neutrals these days. i just love how crisp and clean they feel against the bright white trim, and i love how i can add any pops of color i want to them. it makes it very easy to change up the decor and create a whole new look by just switching out a few pieces at a time. so i finally feel 100% happy with all of the colors on our walls and i don't see myself painting them again for a long, long time! there is a lot of white paint in my future, though, as i have some major plans to freshen up some of our trim and kitchen cabinets!

lately i have been busy conjuring up ways to turn my little business into a bigger business. i'm convinced that someday it will all work out. these past two weeks have been filled with sign building and baby announcement making. and i love it. lowe's loves it too, i'm sure...

with all the trips i have made there in the past couple of years, i still haven't learned how to load the car properly. 

or how to not walk into my cart full of wood and slice my shins!

one of the new projects i made was for this really lovely person from california. she asked if i would make her a sign similar to a pottery barn one she saw and loved. i love doing these custom orders, and this one was especially awesome because i found my new favorite thing: liquid nails!

it's a terrible picture, but this stuff is amazing. and i am kind of afraid of what it may mean for my little casa! here's how the sign turned out... i hope she loves it!!

i've also been busy making a couple of different signs for a friend's wedding. i am so excited that she wants my work to play a part in making her wedding day special! buttttt, i can't share that with you until july... sorry!

another friend of mine is having a baby in july and we are throwing her a shower at school later this month, so i made some cute invitations. she loves giraffes and she is having a boy, so i thought the navy and yellow was a fun & classy combo.

so things have been very busy around here, but it's always nice to wind down by watching silver linings over and over and over again. i'm glad ruby loves it as much as i do. she literally sat there and stared at bradley cooper with me and tilted her head during all the dancing scenes!!

oh and here is a picture of me and the rubester in the car this past weekend. mike and i took the pups on a little trip to his nana's for the weekend. ruby was actually reallllly good in the car this time, fingers crossed she is growing up at age 3 1/2!! i hope the same is true at her yearly vet appointment next wednesday... it is usually the most traumatic day of the year for the both of us...

yesterday i went to a gorgeous winery in connecticut with my friends and had the best time! we did a little wine tasting, decided on our favorite and headed out into the sunshine to enjoy a bottle of it. it was a gorgeous afternoon and so peaceful, i can't wait to go back!

this morning, mike came on my sprinting workout with me. so fun, so satisfying, and such an awesome way to start a sunday.

i'm kind of excited because i think i just might have the winning bracket in my family's little march madness thing, even though miami is out... that would mean the little trophy gets to spend another year on our mantle {mike won last year!}

and here's a simple little thought that i just love, love, love. my new motto.
